Happy Days , by absurdist playwright Samuel Beckett, puts both actor and audience to a challenging test. For the actor it can be the formidable task of learning interminable, disjointed lines or specifically timed gestures. For the audience the challenge can be just staying at attention. For both, it's figuring out just what the playwright intended.
