Pizza and a Play -Antigone
from Carolyn Burnett and Karen Kaufman
February 3rd, 6pm
How can something that was written over 400 years before the birth of Christ still be fresh and relevant today? Sophocle’s Antigone is a play about personal and family values versus the power of the state. It is about individual religious belief coming up against the biggest powers in the country. Sophocles does not offer an easy moral or answer. He presents the ilemmas. He asks us: What would you do?
What we are suggesting you do is come to the next offering in Theater in the Woods popular pizza and a play series on Friday February 3 at 6:00 at the Erika Quam Memorial Theatre in Shell Lake. Everyone is welcome to come to read this ancient play in English translation. You are invited to read, listen, eat pizza and be introduced to the version of Antigone that will grace the TiTW stage in April of 2013. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact directors Carolyn Burnett at 715 354-3803 or Karen Kaufman at 715 635-7641.

Nickel and Dimed
by Joan Holden
Directed by Jessica de la Cruz and Tommy Yousten
April 13-15th and 19-22nd
A thought-provoking, provocative and comic retelling of a real life minimum-wage experiment. Based on Barbara Ehrenreich’s bestselling book, Nickel and Dimed, on (Not) Getting by in America, the story was adapted for the stage by Joan Holden and first premiered in 2002. Time magazine has called it “a rare example of theater that tries to open people’s eyes to the way life is lived in the real world—and maybe even rouse them to action.”
Theatre in the Woods invites you to experience this powerful and timely piece, brought to you by directors Jessica de la Cruz and Tommy Yousten.
